NEW ZEALAND DIPLOMA IN HORTICULTURE PRODUCTION Level 5 ( ONE-YEAR)

DURATION

ONE YEAR: Forty weeks/year (four quarters of 10 weeks/year)

TIME REQUIRED

Three days (20 hours) on site, and 12-13 hours of directed selfstudy/week which includes 5-8 hours of workplace experience.

First week of January, April, July, and October each year

120 Credits (Nursery Production strand)

Overview of programmes:

ENTRY CRITERIA: Applicants must:
  • Be 18 years of age or above
  • Have completed NCEA L2 or Senior secondary or equivalent/above
  • English language competence: IELTS (Academic) 5.5 no band less than 5, or NZCEL L4 (General/Employment), PToE 42 (Academic) with no score less than 36 or equivalent www.nzqa.govt.nz
  • Have adequate work experience preferably in horticulture
  • Comply with the NZ Immigration requirements for student visa
WORK RIGHTS

Students are eligible for 20 hours/week work rights during study and full-time during statutory holidays. Please check up with Immigration NZ or your consultant for the latest position. After completion the students can apply for Accredited Employer Work Visa (3-5 years) with a suitable job offer.
