NEW ZEALAND CERTIFICATE IN HORTICULTURE PRODUCTION Level 4 (ONE-YEAR)

DURATION

ONE YEAR: Forty weeks (Four quarters of 10 weeks each)

TIME REQUIRED

Three days (20 hours) on-site, and 13 hours of directed self-study/week which includes 5-8 hours of workplace experience

START DATES

First week of January, April, July, and October each year

TOTAL CREDITS

125 Credits (Nursery Production strand)

Overview of programmes:

ENTRY CRITERIA: Applicants must:
  • Be 17 years of age or above
  • Have achieved NCEA L 2 (or equivalent)
  • Be physically fit to complete the practical aspects of the course (About 60-65% of the programme will involve field work)
  • Mature students (Aged 21 or above) who have not previously achieved the academic entry requirement may, following an interview by the Director, be granted admission to the programme.
  • INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS must also:
  • Be 18 years of age or above
  • English language competence: IELTS 5.5, no band score less than 5 (General or Academic), or NZCEL L3 (Applied), PToE 42 (Academic) with no score less than 36 or equivalent.  Read more at www.nzqa.govt.nz
