NEW ZEALAND DIPLOMA IN HORTICULTURE PRODUCTION Level 5 (TWO-YEAR)

DURATION

TWO YEARS: Forty weeks/year (four quarters of 9-10 weeks/year)

TIME REQUIRED

Three days (20 hours) on-site, and 13 hours of directed self-study/week, which includes 5-8 hours of workplace experience. Students are expected to maintain a diary for their work experience and self-study.

START DATES

First week of January, April, July, and October each year

Overview of programmes:

ENTRY CRITERIA: Applicants must:
  • Be 17 years of age or above
  • Have achieved NCEA Level 2 (or equivalent)
  • Be physically fit to complete practical aspects of the programme (About 60-65% of the programme will involve field work)
  • Mature students (aged 21 and above) who have not previously achieved the academic entry requirements may, following an interview with the Director, be granted admission to the programme.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS must also:

  • Be 18 years of Age
  • Have English language competency as demonstrated by the achievement of IELTS (Academic) with an overall band score of 5.5  with no band score less than 5, OR  PTE Academic with an overall 42 and no band score less than 36, OR  NZCEL L 4 (General or Employment), OR equivalent evidence as approved by NZQA.     https://www2.nzqa.govt.nz/tertiary/english-language-entry-requirements-for-international-students/

International students need to apply about three months before the start of the term to allow for visa processing time.
