Entry Requirements

General requirements for admission to the Franklin Institute of Agri-Technology programme leading to the National Certificate in Horticulture (Advanced) (Level 4) are
  • Age 18 or above.
  • Achievement of NCEA Level 2 or equivalent
  • Physical fitness sufficient to complete the practical aspects of the programme (About 60-65% of the programme will involve field work)



Additional admission requirements for international students are
  • Completion of 11-12 years of schooling and achievement of the equivalent to the New Zealand NCEA Level 2 qualification
  • English language competency as demonstrated by achievement of IELTS overall band score of 5.5 (with no band lower than 5) or equivalent.
  • Compliance with the New Zealand Immigration Service requirements for granting of a Student Visa to study for the Franklin Institute of Agri-Technology programme in Production Horticulture.

NB. The Principal will review international students on arrival to confirm their skills are consistent with the entry requirements and if gaps are identified may encourage them to undertake additional study in parallel with the programme.
